For the Holy Innocents

This is from a sermon by Quodvultdeus, Bishop of Cathage, on those slaughtered by Herod, who in some ways were the very first little martyrs to the faith.

"They cannot speak, yet they bear witness to Christ. They cannot use their little limbs to engage in battle, yet already they bear off the palm of victory."

I believe this so much; that the babes slain of Herod were the first martyrs. This is spoken justly of their plight..."yet already they bear off the palm of victory." This deeply touches me, even for personal reasons; our first daughter only had four days on earth, but the ministry she effected by her life in ours cannot be understated. There are many such as these that have amazing rewards set ahead of them.
