Neat prayer

This is in a devotion/prayer book I am reading through. It is credited as coming from the Church of the Province of the West Indies.

Since without you we can do no good thing:
May your Spirit make us wise;
May your Spirit guide us;
May your Spirit renew us;
May your Spirit strengthen us;

So that we will be:
Strong in faith,
Discerning in proclamation,
Courageous in witness,
Persistent in good deeds.

You know, I love good prayers. Although God sees our hearts and knows what we have need of even before we ask, WE need to understand at times that we have committed something to Him fully, and the proper wording can be very comforting, motivational and directional. This is what's so great about The Lord's Prayer! It still makes me chuckle inside to think of how the disciples asked, "Lord, teach us to pray," and instead of saying something super spiritual and vague, He simply gave them a prayer to pray!

I spent my first 15+ years as a believer ignoring (and dismissing) devotional prayers, written by others. I just didn't get it.

I am starting to get it now.
